This manual of adaptive behaviour interventions is based on the most common adaptive behaviour problems identified in the Adaptive Behaviour Scale (2006) which are necessary for success in both an educational and home setting and which are not measured by academic skills testing. 10 areas of adaptive skills are covered, from the three adaptive behaviour domains defined in the 10th AAMR Definition of Mental Retardation (AAMR, 2002): Conceptual, Social, and Practical Skills.
For the purpose of organisation, the manual is divided into three sections: Goals and Objectives, Interventions and the Appendix. The Goals and Objectives section identifies the most common adaptive behaviour problems and includes goals and objectives for each. A compilation of interventions is provided in the Interventions section for each of the 55 adaptive behaviour problems identified.
