Alyson Mountjoy has written many articles and support materials for families on coping with Auditory Processing Disorder/APD and is also an author of fiction for all ages. After completing an honoursdegree in Welsh at the University of Wales in Swansea, she gained many years'experience in administration in the NHS and local government, and in supportingchildren with additional needs including severe dyslexia. In 2002 sheco-founded "Auditory Processing Disorder in the United Kingdom" (APDUK), thefirst voluntary organisation in the UK providing information and support forfamilies and individuals affected by APD. She was involved in the first adults'international research project into the psycho-social implications of livingwith APD, and co-wrote several support articles on this topic.
Alyson has also produced a series of her own literacy resources andfiction for children aged 5-16, and horror fiction for young adults/reluctantreaders. Having taken voluntary redundancyin 2012 and needing a change of pace and direction, she retrained as acomplementary therapist and qualified as a Reiki Master Practitioner/MasterTeacher and Crystal Therapist.
