Helen Orme

Helen Orme was a teacher before she started writing: initially teaching maths before teaching students with special needs. Her final teaching job was running a unit for students that had been excluded from their secondary schools. Some of these students had very serious problems and very difficult lives. Although hard work, Helen learnt a good deal and thinks it helped her become a better writer.

Helen has written fiction and non-fiction. Her fiction is based on real life and the problems people have to face in their lives. This sounds a bit gloomy, but it doesn’t have to be – readers find her Siti’s Sisters series, about a group of teenage girls, entertaining and funny.

Helen has also co-authored many books with her husband, David.
