Helen Timperley

Helen Timperley s currently Professor of Learning Development and Professional Practice at The University of Auckland. Through her research and teaching she focusses on promoting professional learning and schooling improvement through the development of adaptive expertise in ways that create better outcomes for student learners, particularly those under-served by our education systems.

Helen is a widely respected and published expert on professional learning and school improvement. She has also collaborated over several years with Professor John Hattie on his "Visible Learning" research, including contributing the "Feedback" chapter to the "International Guide To Student Achievement (2013)" by Hattie and Anderman.

Helen was formerly a teacher in early childhood, primary, secondary and special education. She has been honoured as a Companion to the New Zealand Order of Merit.
