A practical guide to working in modern classrooms with a focus on dealing with students...

John R Frew

John started his career as a secondary teacher. After sixteen years in mainstream school he was asked to set up a specialist unit to deal with students with emotional disturbance. Two years later he was appointed the foundation principal of a secondary school for students with Conduct Disorder and Oppositional Disturbance. He served as principal for the next ten years.

During his time at the school John researched and studied the causes and interventions for dealing with these children. While there he wrote three publications that supported other workers in the field. These included:

• Back on Track – a goal setting program for dysfunctional students.

• Taming Anger – a series of work sheets for students to deal with their anger

• The Classroom management program

John has been back in mainstream secondary school as a principal for the past seventeen years where he has continued his work in dealing with students with severe behaviours.

John has just released his latest book ‘The Impact of Modern Neuroscience on Contemporary Teaching’ which is a compellation of essays that investigate the causes of dysfunctional behaviours and effective interventions.
