Jonathan Stroud

Jonathan Stroud is the author of two internationally bestselling series: the award-winning Bartimaeus sequence and the critically acclaimed Lockwood & Co, which is currently being adapted by Netflix.

Jonathan was often ill as a child and used books as a way to escape. He would spend his free time scribbling stories and drawing cartoons, and while other kids dreamed of being football players or rock stars, he decided he wanted to be a writer. After studying English Literature at the University of York, Jonathan began work as an editor in a London publishing house. In 2001 he became a full-time writer and began work on the first Bartimaeus novel, The Amulet of Samarkand.

His other novels include The Outlaws Scarlett and Browne and he has been nominated for numerous prestigious awards including the CILIP Carnegie Medal and the Costa Children's Book Award.
