Myra Lockhart is a Speech & Language Therapist who began her career in the Victoria Infirmary in Glasgow. Initially she worked in all specialities of adult services but had a particular interest in stammering, voice disorders and laryngectomy. Myra has published and presented papers individually and in collaboration with colleagues on objective assessment and clinical effectiveness, timescales of therapy for voice disorders, the management of voice disorders in hospital and community clinic settings, timescales of therapy with experienced and newly qualified practitioners, the ageing voice and the voice of the young performer. She has a special interest in the occupational voice and has established voice workshops in Lanarkshire for Probationary Teachers as well as an SLT-led Endoscopy Clinic for fast-track of those with professional/occupational voice disorders. Myra is an Advisor to the Royal College of Speech & Lanaguage Therapists, she coordinates SLT Adult Services in Lanarkshire, Scotland and is Head of Department in Wishaw General Hospital with a varied caseload of both Head and Neck and Voice Disorders.
