Sue Purkiss
Sue Purkiss was born in Derbyshire but now lives in Somerset. Originally an English teacher, she now writes books for children and young adults, and teaches creative writing in the community. She has also worked in Exeter and Bristol Universities as a Royal Literary Fund Fellow, helping students write better essays.
She has written fantasy books for young readers, and a contemporary novel, The Willow Man, but her most recent books have been historical fiction. She is particularly fascinated by Alfred the Great and his daughter, and has written about them in a novel, Warrior King, and a short story in an anthology called Daughters of Time.
