Dr Suzanne Beeke is Associate Professor of Language & Cognition at UCL (University College London) where she leads the Better Conversations Lab. She qualified as a speech and language therapist in 1993 then moved into research when she completed her PhD in 2005 at UCL using conversation analysis to investigate aphasia.
Dr Beeke's research is focused on understanding the impact of language and communication disorders on the everyday communication activities of adults with acquired neurological conditions, particularly post-stroke aphasia and dementia, and the effect on life participation. She also leads research to evaluate communication skills interventions for these populations and communication training packages for healthcare professionals.
