In an unknown place and time, best friends Abb and Tem live in a village on the banks of the Dark River. A storm floods the river, and the waters carry them far, far away from their home. They must rely on each other to overcome many obstacles as they follow the river back to where they came from. Can they climb a huge cliff? Will they get lost in a swamp? Will they escape a lion that hunts them? Abb and Tem must use all their knowledge and skills to get back to their families and their village. The Five Books (Read in Sequence):
Abb and Tem live by the Dark River. The kids are swept into the river after a huge storm. They are carried miles and miles away—and over a cliff! Now they must get back up the cliff. Then they can start their journey home.
Abb and Tem have climbed the cliff. Now they follow the Dark River toward home. They must go away from the river to get past a flooded stream. This leads them into the nearby hills. There, they are hunted by a hungry lion.
The Dark River has turned into a swamp. The swamp is full of hidden mud pits and other dangers. There is not much to eat. Tem and Abb must use all their skills to stay alive and find their way.
Tem and Abb are getting close to home. Now the Dark River flows through a thick forest. The kids must follow the river into the trees. They see animals they’ve never seen before. Are the animals friendly—or should they be feared?
Blue Mountain! Abb and Tem can see that they are close to their home. But the kids are not safe yet. Abb is bitten by a snake. The kids must race against time to get home before it’s too late!
