The purpose of the activity is for each student to listen carefully to the details and sequence of events in each story and then orally express an appropriate ending to each story. The activity involves good listening, remembering details, forming
logical conclusions and expressing thoughts orally.
Unless the students listen carefully to the short stories, they cannot form a logical conclusion about what will happen next or the reason why something has happened in the story. Remembering the details (context clues) and remembering
the order in which they happened is essential to finishing each short story. The activities are designed for young students who are just beginning to master the skills of listening to details in short stories and completing appropriate endings to the stories. The activities allow them to share in telling the stories. It is an important step in learning to tell or write stories, and in learning they cannot be successful in giving appropriate story endings unless they listen and remember what is read to them.
