Working with children with severe emotional disturbances in the general education setting can be a challenging, stressful, and emotionally draining experience for a teacher. But, it doesn't have to be. Here is a program that can change all that! Developed by a behaviour specialist and a licensed psychologist with over 40 years of collective educational experience, PASS serves students with serious emotional disturbances in the general education setting using individualised programming that incorporates "best practices."
PASS programming combines targeted and intensive social skills instruction with behaviour monitoring and coaching support for the student and the teacher. The program aims to assist the student in the development of self-management skills and relies on data to drive decisions.
Schools that have implemented PASS report that their ED/BD students are experiencing academic and behavioural success in mainstream settings. And, they are making significant reductions in the number of students placed in more restrictive environments.
The companion CD includes: • PASS Tracker application (Excel spreadsheet) • Reproducible forms • Samples of student portfolios, T-Charts, and behaviour analysis • Materials for use in training staff in PASS procedures
