PPS: Advanced Prefixes, Suffixes, Roots & Connectives follows the previous manual PS: Prefixes, Suffixes, Roots and is designed for teaching upper-level morphology for more advanced students and teachers using an Orton-based methodology. The format is similar to the first manual which includes lists, phrases, and sentences on two levels arranged in a cumulative sequence, along with humorous controlled stories, poems, blogs, emails, etc. However, the focus concentrates on higher-level language highlighting concepts such as connectives, assimilative prefixes, and silent E rule breakers.
The book provides instructors with methods to teach these very important skills in a concrete and accessible manner to students as young as middle school age. Because students focus on informational text earlier than they had in the past and encounter polysyllabic words with multiple affixes and connectives, we furnish instructors with innovative tools, activities, and strategies for decoding and encoding multisyllabic words that will enable their students to meet with success as early as appropriately possible. In addition, there are morpheme cards and charts all spiral bound for reproducing.
