Auditory Processing

Auditory processing is a term used to describe how we use our hearing to make sense of the world. Auditory Processing Disorder (APD) or Central Auditory Processing Disorder (CAPD) are umbrella terms for a variety of disorders that affect the way the brain processes auditory information. Individuals with APD usually have normal peripheral hearing ability, but they cannot process the information they hear in the same way as others do, which leads to difficulties in recognising and interpreting speech and in developing listening skills.
